Policies
Registration and Tuition:
Please view our registration page for further information. Register for classes online, at the studio, or by mail. If registering by mail, send completed forms and tuition payment to Main Street Dance Academy, 111 S. First Street, Peotone, IL, 60468. Late Registration may be available.
Missed Classes:
Students can make up missed classes throughout the session in a class of the same style and level, or one level below. Missed classes do not carry over to a new session.
Student Showcase:
The MSDA school year culminates with the student showcase held in June. All students are provided the opportunity to perform. For more information regarding the performance contact MSDA at (708) 258-3656.
Dress Code:
In order to present and enforce a professional atmosphere, all students are required to adhere to the dress code provided for each class. Hair must always be pulled up and out of the face; buns are strongly recommended for ballet classes. Any dancer with improper footwear or dress attire will be asked to not participate for safety reasons. They may sit and observe the class. No jewelry, please.
- Ballet I-Ballet IV/Pre-Ballet: Pink or black leotard, pink or black tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair in a bun. Skirts optional.
- Tumbling: Pink or black leotard, no tights or shoes, no skirts. Shorts optional.
- Ballet Int/Adv: Solid colored leotard, pink or black tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair in a bun. Skirts optional.
- Jazz/Hip Hop: Solid colored leotard, tights, black or tan jazz shoes. Shorts, jazz pants, capris, MSDA logo shirts optional. No sneakers.
- Tap: Solid colored leotard, tights, and black tap shoes. Shorts, jazz pants, capris, MSDA logo shirts optional.
- Modern: Solid colored leotard and pink or black tights. Shorts, jazz pants, capris, MSDA logo shirts optional. Modern sandals optional for class but not allowed in performance.
- Poms Technique: Solid colored leotard, tights, black or tan jazz shoes. Shorts, jazz pants, capris, MSDA logo shirts optional. No sneakers.
- Pilates: Solid color t-shirt, leotard, MSDA logo shirt, tights, shorts, jazz pants or capris, sweat pants, or any other workout attire. Socks, no shoes.
- Martial Arts: Black student uniform. Order forms available at MSD. $40 - $50 depending on size.
- Men/Boys: Solid colored t-shirt or MSDA logo shirt, leotard and tights, shorts, jazz pants, black sweat pants. Appropriate dance shoes.
Classroom Etiquette:
To keep order in the classroom and maintain a professional atmosphere, dancers should be aware of the rules and be on their best behavior at all times.
General Rules:- Do not wear gym shoes or sneakers in the dance studios. They will ruin the floors. There is a locker room to store your shoes, coat and other personal belongings during classes.
- Please, no gum chewing, food, or beverages in MSDA dance studios.
- Dancers must follow the dress code at all times. Remove all jewelry before class and have hair up securely out of face and off the neck. Any dancer with improper footwear or dress attire will be asked not to participate for safety reasons.
- Tardiness: If a student misses any part of warm up he/she will be asked not to participate for safety reasons. He/she must sit and watch the remainder of class.
- Performances & Costumes: Deposit amounts regarding the showcase, other performances, and costumes will be released at a later time.
- When utilizing our waiting area, we ask that you be respectful toward all of our dancers and keep conversations at an appropriate volume. Also, while waiting, please silence your cell phones as a courtesy to the dancers and other guests.
- Parents are invited to come into the studios and observe regularly scheduled classes on designated week. Please no flash or video cameras during class.
- At the end of each school year in June, there is a student showcase. All students are given the opportunity to perform. For more information regarding the performance contact MSDA at (708) 258-3656.
